If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department. Non-urgent questions can be sent through the patient portal during business hours.

What should I do in a crisis?

Appointment requests can be submitted directly through our website, by emailing info@district-wellness.com, or by calling our office. We see clients in our Old Town Alexandria office or via secure telehealth.

How do I schedule an appointment?

We offer individualized, fee-for-service care from a multidisciplinary team — including psychiatry, therapy, and acupuncture. There are no subscriptions, retainers, or ongoing memberships; each visit is scheduled and billed independently.

What is your care model?

We require at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Missed or late-canceled appointments are billed in full.

What is your cancellation policy?

We are an out-of-network practice. Payment is due at the time of service, and we provide documentation for clients who wish to seek potential reimbursement from their insurance carrier. District Psychiatry and Wellness does maintain a practice Reimbursify subscription, which automates out-of-network claims when patients opt-in during their first appointment. However, out-of-network benefits are dependent on insurance carrier policies and are in no way guaranteed.

Do you accept insurance?

Appointments are available during standard business hours. We do not provide on-call or after-hours services, ensuring clear boundaries and focused care for all clients.

Do you offer after-hours or weekend care?

Non-urgent messages are typically answered within 1–2 business days. For urgent concerns, please contact your primary care provider, local crisis line, or call 911.

How quickly do you respond to messages?

Refills are processed on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please request refills in advance to avoid interruptions in treatment. Same-day refill requests incur a $40 processing fee.
